After the huge success of 1999’s Ochre 5 Festival, the Cheltenham based label returns to The Guildhall for an all day celebration of their seventh year.

Ochre Records has established itself as a leading label in the experimental and electronic scene since it’s first release back in 1994. With ten hours of music spread across the whole of the Guildhall, guest DJ’s and special headling guests LUPINE HOWL, this promises to be one of the most exciting music events the West Country has seen this year.

Acts appearing on the day include:
Special Guest headliners LUPINE HOWL have just recently seen their debut album ‘The Carnivorous Lunar Activities Of Lupine Howl’ released on Beggars Banquet. The band feature the three ex-members of Spiritualized famously sacked by leader Jason Pierce. The band will not be unfamiliar to those who attended the legendary Ochre 5 Festival at the Gloucester Guildhall back in November 1999 as they headlined as The Creeping Meetball. Not long after the group decided on the name Lupine Howl releasing their first material at the beginning of 2000 on Vinyl Hiss Records.

Skyray (led by ex-Teardrop Explodes founder member Paul Simpson whose 1999 Ochre album 'Mind Lagoons' was a Muzik magazine top 25 album of the year). Paul will also be in the Cinema earlier in the day performing his spoken word ‘Dream Diaries’.

Applecraft (led by Don Mandarin and featuring ex-Spiritualized and now Lupine Howl members Mike Mooney and Damon Reece)
Echo and the Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant performing his experimental solo project GLIDE

Portishead’s Adrian Utley who had the ‘Warminster’ Mini-CD Album released on Ochre which was a collaboration with Glasgow’s Mount Vernon Arts Lab.

Local acts THE LAND OF NOD, LONGSTONE and 90° SOUTH who have all had healthy airplay on John Peel’s BBC Radio One Show all perform during the day in the Cinema.

Midlands based acts YELLOW 6, AVROCAR and THE FREED UNIT also perform during the day. All acts appeared on the critically acclaimed INFRASONIC WAVES Compilation. The AVROCAR track became a Mary-Anne Hobbs Breezeblock Single Of The Week on her show on Radio One and the track also received several Peel airings as well. YELLOW 6 meanwhile have an album ‘Lake:Desert’ imminent on Ochre.

Events will not only take place in the Main Hall and Cinema but also in adjoining rooms, one curated by Ectogram’s Alan Holmes (described by The Independent On Sunday as The Godfather Of The Welsh Underground). Alan presents his own solo project The Groceries as well as Gloucester’s Oobe, Cheltenham’s Brickwerk and Rheinhallt H. Rowlands from North Wales who have had numerous releases on Welsh label Ankst Records.

Also in the Venue the Bristol based WhitEye Film Tones present a series of films running throughout the day and various sound installations will be all around the venue. The visual element will once again be an integral part of the day Festival. A feast for the eyes and ears!!!! Book your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
