For the past ten years Ochre Records has been the UK’s premier label for releasing experimental and electronic music with over a hundred releases. Ochre has built up a healthy reputation world-wide with several of it’s acts based in the USA, Europe & Japan. The label has received extensive airplay from the likes of BBC Radio One’s John Peel and received critically acclaimed reviews in magazines such as The Wire, Mojo and Select to name but a few. To mark this occasion the Cheltenham label celebrates with an eclectic mixture of its acts that will perform during the afternoon and evening at the Guildhall. If you attended the Ochre 5 and 7 festivals and witnessed the enthralling music that was performed, then you will know that this is an event not to be missed. THE ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE from Japan, headline the event performing their full-on two hour set of prog-psych-indie! The group are without doubt one of today’s most exciting psychedelic ensembles. Cosmic melodic drones collide with full blown wigged out guitar riffs! THIGHPAULSANDRA - Full time member of Spiritualized and Coil. Thighpaulsandra has also been a full time member in Julian Cope’s band as well as collaborating with the Arch-Drude on the ‘Queen Elizabeth’ project! Performing as a five-piece this is a set not to be missed includes pure theatre with plenty of surprises! GLIDE - is the solo psychedlic tripscape project of Echo and the Bunnymen lead guitarist Will Sergeant. One of the greatest guitarists of all time presents a set of Eno influenced ambience interspersed with killer rock out grooves. APPLECRAFT - Led by vocalist Don Mandarin and includes Mike Mooney, Sean Cook and Jonny Mattocks (all ex members of Spiritualized) plus Portishead’s Adrian Utley. Mooney as well was an ex-member of Julian Cope’s group. Remember his awesome solo on ‘Safe Surfer’. A classic mixture of folk-psych rock. THE SERPENTS, the legendary Anglo / Welsh supergroup that in the past has included various members of Super Furry Animals, Gorkys and Bunnymen who will kick-off the event! Don’t miss as several well known musicians set to join in the fun and frolicks! The first part of the day will include performances by the local Ochre acts LONGSTONE and 90º SOUTH as well as John Peel session outfit THE LAND OF NOD. |
